The Advantages of Visiting Walt Disney World at ANY Time of the Year

At Pure Magic Vacations, our agents are often asked “WHEN is the best time of year to visit Walt Disney World?” The answer to this is different for every family! Our agents will ask what are the important factors to you and your travel party to make sure you pick the right time -- is it going to be weather? Crowds? Special Events? And most important of all - when can you get away? There may be times of the year that you absolutely can’t get away from your work or other obligations.

However, no matter when you decide to visit the most magical place on earth we can guarantee there will be beautiful memories made!  Let’s take a closer look at the offerings and advantages of visiting during each month:

January
Why not kick start your year on a magical note with a trip to Walt Disney World! The crowd levels during most of the month of January are quite ideal as travellers return to school and work after their Christmas break. Of course, the Walt Disney World theme parks are never empty but there is definitely a notable difference compared to other times of the year.
Also, how nice would it feel to escape winter and enjoy the warmer temperatures of the Sunshine State. January is known to have some cooler temperatures in comparison to the hot and humid Florida summer temperatures but cooler weather means you can enjoy the theme parks and have an excuse to buy that sweater you had your eye on for when the sun goes down!
Even in the month of January there are some holidays and events you that may draw in bigger crowds so talk to your Pure Magic Vacations travel agent on the best times to visit for your family! The EPCOT International Festival of the Arts starts mid-January and runs thru mid-February

February
If choosing to visit Walt Disney World in February you will see it shares a lot of the same advantages as January when it comes to weather and crowd levels. EPCOT is home to a handful of festivals throughout the year. The EPCOT International Festival of the Arts celebrates all forms of art including culinary arts, visual arts and performing arts! The culinary arts will be represented by numerous food booths around EPCOT. Tasting your way around the park is a treat for your taste buds and your eyes because of the beautiful artistic presentations! During the festival you will be able to meet artists and watch as their works of art come to life as they paint their canvases and perform a variety of talents. One of the most popular offerings during the festival is the “Disney on Broadway Concert Series.” Watch and listen to some of the most popular Broadway stars sing widely beloved Broadway hits live on stage! With fun photo ops, beautiful galleries to shop through and unique visual arts around every corner, this festival is one you won’t want to miss if visiting Walt Disney World during the month of February!

March
By March spring has sprung at the Walt Disney World Resort and we begin to leave winter behind us! You can really experience that ‘perfect for wandering the theme parks’ kind of weather. Some days the sun might be hot during those afternoon peaks but by the evening it makes for beautiful evening strolls. Once March begins you will begin to find touches of spring all over with gorgeous flowers everywhere you look - most especially at EPCOT. With spring brings another special time at EPCOT, the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival!
This is the most beautiful time of year to visit EPCOT as it is full of gorgeous flowers in bloom, unique exhibits, numerous impressive topiaries and more! At this festival you can find plenty of delicious eats at the Outdoor Kitchens which offer fresh bites to fit the season. On select nights you can also watch as some famous musicians take the stage at the America Gardens Theatre as part of the Garden Rocks Concert Series! The EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival l usually runs through early July.

April
Visiting Walt Disney World in April you may find that the weather and crowd levels are very much similar to March especially as multiple countries and states partake in spring break at different times throughout March and April. However, we typically see Easter fall throughout the month of April and just like with any holiday, Disney magic makes it all the more special! If visiting around the Easter season, our Pure Magic Vacations tip is to stop by Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa! Here you will find that the culinary teams have put together a fantastic display of Easter eggs. Additionally, if you find yourself in the Magic Kingdom around the Easter weekend you may just run into Mr. & Mrs. Easter Bunny and an Easter parade!

May
The first two weeks of May are a Pure Magic Vacations favorite when looking at best times to visit. This is largely in part due to the manageable crowd levels as the ‘Spring break’ crowds have left and summer break has not yet begun.
Additionally, towards the end of the month we also typically see the kick off of Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon’s H20 Glow Nights! The other theme parks at Walt Disney World often do have different after-hours separate ticketed events throughout the year however, it is only during the summer months you can purchase an after-hours ticket for Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park! At this event you will be provided with fun entertainment and a DJ Dance Party featuring some of your favorite characters in their swim gear, unlimited snacks such as popcorn, ice cream and soft drinks as well as lower wait times on your favorite slides and attractions! This event is only offered on select nights and tickets do sell out so be sure to check with your Pure Magic Vacations travel agent to lock yours in!

June
What’s great about visiting in June is that there are no major holiday weekends and nothing to avoid that may alter the crowd levels. One thing you will notice about June is that it does truly kick off summer in Florida so the weather can get quite hot and humid. However, this makes the summer months perfect for those families who love the water! During the summer months typically both Walt Disney World water parks, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon & Disney’s Blizzard Beach, are open for the option of even more water fun. (Unfortunately, for the summer of 2023 Disney’s Blizzard Beach is undergoing a refurbishment but we hope both parks will be open and ready for summer 2024!) The heat may make you all the more inclined to slow your vacation down a little bit and truly get some relaxation in by spending time at the fabulous pools found at Walt Disney World resort hotels. Additionally, you can find a handful of fantastic beaches just an hour or two away from Walt Disney World so if your family loves the beach talk to your Pure Magic Vacations travel agent about those opportunities as well! One more advantage to June and the rest of the summer at Walt Disney World is that the park hours are most likely going to be longer than they would be the rest of the year. June holds the longest day of the year and with that much daylight it means the parks have to wait until later in the evenings to begin their nighttime spectaculars!

July
Whether you are American or not, you must know that one of the biggest holidays of the year is Fourth of July and it is notorious for huge firework displays all over the country. However, nobody does fireworks like Disney. It has been argued that the Fourth of July fireworks show is the best one Walt Disney World puts on!
We have talked about a couple different EPCOT festivals however, the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival tends to be a guest favorite! This festival begins at the end of July and runs through the Fall! The EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival brings a global marketplace where you can taste your way through 6 continents, fun for all ages with activities like Remy’s Scavenger Hunt around the World Showcase as well as the Eat to the Beat Concert series which brings renowned artists to the America Gardens Theatre concert stage!

‌August
August has most of the same advantages you can find in the other summer months such as the longer park hours, the perfect pool weather and the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival however, it also kicks off the Halloween season at Walt Disney World! Fall at the Magic Kingdom is a guest favorite along with the annual Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. At this party you can get into the spooky spirit by putting on your Halloween costume and trick or treating around the park! Enjoy festive parades, dazzling fireworks, holiday ride overlays, rare characters and more at this separate ticketed event.
The last 2 weeks of August is a Pure Magic Vacations favorite especially for those families who need to have their vacations during the summer. At this point in time, many of the American schools have returned to class again so the crowd levels seem to be lower when compared to the rest of the summer.

‌September & October
We have grouped September and October together as we find they can be quite similar with their offerings such as the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival as well as those fun Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Parties. As for crowd levels during the fall months, we have found that September does tend to have lower crowds compared to the rest of year. Many families are headed back to school and work and are just getting back into their regular schedules so they don’t tend to break that with vacation right away. If you love fall décor or love Halloween, October is an amazing time to visit and celebrate your favourite season. You won’t be disappointed!

‌November & December
November and December can be categorized as the holiday season at Walt Disney World so to make things simple we have listed them together as well due to their similarities. The weather does seem to have lower temperatures in comparison to other months but when you have the warm Florida sun shining, it makes for some great theme park weather! The lower chance of rain doesn’t hurt either.

Nobody does the holidays like Walt Disney World so if you can hit that sweet spot of visiting at the end of October into the first week of November you have a very good chance of witnessing the parks celebrate Halloween and Christmas all in the same trip!
Like all the other months, November & December do find higher crowd levels around major holidays however we find the first two weeks of each month a great time to visit and enjoy the magic of the holidays! However, if you are visiting over New Year’s Eve you can expect a grand fireworks display during your stay!

In November we see the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival transfer over into the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. This festival will focus on how each country around the World Showcase celebrates the holidays. You will hear beloved traditional stories, try festive recipes and hear cultural holiday music. Additionally, a noteworthy part of this festival is the Candlelight Processional. During this beautifully done show a celebrity narrator will join a choir to re-tell the biblical story of Christmas.

Another special offering for the Christmas season is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, a special ticketed evening event at the Magic Kingdom on select nights! With festive fireworks, parades, dance parties, rare character meetings and complimentary Christmas treats this event is one you don’t want to miss out on! Santa Claus may even be there too!
